The new school year is just around the corner and that means it's almost time for Iowa's annual sales tax holiday.
This year, the weekend of the holiday falls on August 2 and 3 and consumers are not required to pay state or local options sales taxes on back-to-school products that cost less than $100.
Among the items that qualify for the tax holiday are clothes, footwear and school supplies.
In Ottumwa, that means that parents will save $7 per $100 worth of purchases.
Iowa is one of 17 states that promotes an annual back-to-school sales tax holiday.
