Scam alert: beware of acai berry offers
Sat, 28 Mar 2009 23:57:40 GMT —
Missouri Attorney General Chris Koster is warning consumers about internet businesses advertising free trial offers of acai berry products and other nutritional supplements.
Koster says these offers are advertised as free trials, but may really end up costing you a lot of money in extra charges. Consumers are told they'll be charged for the product after the 14-day free trial period unless they contact the company and cancel their order.
But when they attempt to cancel, they can't reach the company and end up being charged for an additional month's supply. Koster says his office has received over 100 complaints about this scam.
