Scholarships for students pursuing a degree in agronomy or a related agriculture field will have the opportunity to receive a scholarship.
The Missouri Corn Growers Association and Missouri Corn Merchandising Council will award $7,500 in scholarships to deserving students in 2014. The scholarships are available for high school seniors and college juniors. Applicants must be Missouri residents from a Missouri farm or rural area. The students must also attend a two or four year college or university in the Show-Me-State. The scholarship program allows farmers in the corn industry to help students excel in a field that is continuously growing.
"It's a great way for Missouri corn farmers to help support up and coming professionals in the field and there are great opportunities in the agronomy field right now. It's growing, it's a high demand field, there are a lot of opportunities," said Ashley McCarty, a Missouri Corn Field Service Representative.
The application, transcripts and one letter of recommendation are due to the Missouri Corn office by February 7, 2014.
