Schuyler County celebrates its place in history

It is the 40th anniversary since the Schuyler County Historical Society purchased the W.P. Hall home in Lancaster which today houses the Schuyler County Museum.

A historic monument is being preserved in Schuyler County.

This is the 40th anniversary since the Schuyler County Historical Society purchased the W.P. Hall home in Lancaster.

The home was purchased June 1974 and since then has housed the Schuyler County Museum. The museum holds many artifacts and much of the county's history dating back to the late 1800's.

The society thanks Schuyler County for all the community support to help preserve the local history.

"The stories are the greatest part of the historical society. It's nice when you have the facts but when you have the stories to go with them, that's great," said Marilyn Foreman of the Schuyler County Historical Society.

There was homemade ice cream and a hog roast to celebrate this special occasion this weekend. There was free entertainment provided.

The event was of freewill donation. All the money raised will go towards the general fund for upkeep and maintenance of the museum.
