Schuyler R-I throws benefit carnival for student
The community is rallying around an ailing child and 6-year-old Phenix Holcomb is asking for your help.
â??I'm gonna have a hip surgery. Come out and help support me,â?? said Phenix Holcomb a 1st grader diagnosed with Legg Calves Perthes.
You can support Phenix at the Schuyler R-I carnival, auction, and spaghetti supper. The event will be held Friday in the Schuyler R-I Middle School gym and multi-purpose room. Doors open at 5 p.m. and the auction starts at 6 p.m.. Last August Phenix Holcomb was diagnosed with a hip bone disease, Legg Calves Perthes, which affects his mobility. Proceeds from the carnival will go toward the expenses of surgery and treatment.
â??I think that this is a great opportunity for the kids to get out and help Phenix it's not just for adults. We are going to have a bounce house, we're going to have a bounce slide, photo booth, face painting, crazy hair, fingernails, a play dough station for the smaller kids, we're going to have a jail for people to pay to throw somebody in jail and if they want to get out at a certain time they may have to pay to get out,â?? said Bree Shaw, fundraiser chair for the Schuyler Carnival.
If you would like to help Phenix, but canâ??t make it to the event, you can email Bree Shaw or mail her a check. Be sure to make checks payable to Bobbi Hill.
