SE Iowa Kennel Club dog show brings hundreds of participants, spectators

The 69th annual Southeastern Iowa Kennel Club's all-breed dog shows are being held at the Bridge View Center all weekend long.
Over 400 participants traveled with their well-trained and groomed pups to Ottumwa from 30 different states and three countries to partake in the all-breed dog show. There are 114 different breeds of dogs being judged by a panel of six judges from all over the country. If you missed the show on Saturday, the activities happen all over again on Sunday beginning at 8 a.m. and will go through the afternoon.
â??The morning competition, they will pick a breed winner and each breed will represent that breed in the group in the afternoon,â?? Michelle Chaney, president and co-chair of the SE Iowa Kennel Club said. â??There's seven groups. They will judge the groups and pick a winner of each group, which will represent that group in best in show.â??
It costs $2 to attend the dog show, and children under 10 get in for free.
