SE Iowa would be hard hit by postal office closings

A plan by the U.S. Postal service to look at closing roughly 3,700 local post offices would cost Davis and Appanoose County residents several local postal stores.

Cincinnati, Exline, Mystic in Appanoose County are on the list. Davis County could lose offices in Floris and Pulaski. Offices in Kirkville and Stockport are also candidates for being shut down.

The Postal Serivce has been losing billions of dollars every year and is looking for way to cut costs.

No decision has been made on the offices on the list.

The postal service said in a statement issued Tuesday morning that customer patterns would be studied at the stores on the list to determine how to best serve customer needs.
