Search warrant leads to charges for possession of meth

The discovery of a large amount of methamphetamine at a northeast Missouri apartment building landed three people in jail over the weekend.

Sullivan County Sheriff Roger Smiley said it all started with a search warrant carried out late Friday afternoon by his office and the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

He identified the suspects as Oscar Torres Marquina, 22, Armando Romo III, 22, and Leonard Vega, 59, all of Milan, Missouri.

Marquina and Romo are both tenants at the apartment building located just south of Milan along Highway 5.

Smiley said a search of the apartment turned up what appeared to be a large amount of methamphetamine. Lab analysis of the substance will be done to confirm that it is meth.

The sheriff said Romo and Vega were arrested Friday night.

Marquina was arrested Sunday evening after further investigation revealed his alleged involvement.

All three suspects are charged with distribution/possession of the controlled substance, methamphetamine. Each is being held in the Sullivan County Jail on $75,000 cash only bond.

Smiley said more charges may be filed later.
