Selling fireworks to help make a difference in the world

Katy Chrisman and Rachel Frost have a tax free fireworks stand set up at the Novinger Firehouse to earn money for a two week mission trip to the Dominican Republic this upcoming September.

Two local northeast Missouri girls are needing the support of the community to help raise money for a great cause.

College students Katy Chrisman and Rachel Frost have a tax free fireworks stand set up at the Novinger Firehouse in Novinger.

These ladies are working hard to earn money for a two week mission trip to the Dominican Republic this upcoming September.

This will be the girls' second trip to the country.

Both girls went last year and have been wanting to go back ever since to continue helping the needy children and teach them english.

"They just need people to know that we care for them even though they are thousands of miles away. It's a good place. There's a lot of love down there," Frost said.

The girls need to raise about 35-hundred dollars to cover all trip expenses.

Firework sales have been a bit slow, but they are hopeful sales will go up as we near the 4th of July holiday.

If you want to purchase fireworks from them, the fireworks stand will be open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. now through July 5 at the Novinger Firehouse.
