Iowa Tea Party members had the chance to meet and speak with a state senator Saturday.
Senator Mark Chelgren was at the County Kitchen in Ottumwa Saturday afternoon. There, he was discussing his role as state senator. Chelgren enjoys getting out to meet members of the community and learning about what concerns they have with the government.
"My job is to be out here and make sure I take feedback from what is important to all my constituents. It's also important that if they have a question about an issue they hear from me directly on why I think it's important or why I can't do something," said Iowa State Senator, Mark Chelgren.
Chelgren was elected to the Iowa Senate in 2010. His opponent for the senate race is Steve Siegel. We will have a word from Siegel next week on KTVO News.
