Sheriff: Drug task force busts northeast Missouri pot growing operation
KIRKSVILLE, Mo. —
A northeast Missouri man is behind bars after authorities say they found more than 50 marijuana plants on his property.
William C. Ricketts, 45, of New Boston, Mo., was arrested Thursday for manufacturing a controlled substance except 35 grams or less of marijuana, delivery of a controlled substance except 35 grams or less of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance except 35 grams or less of marijuana and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to a press release from the Macon County Sheriff’s Office, deputies and agents with the North Missouri Drug Task Force responded to a residence in New Boston to investigate an anonymous tip about marijuana plants being grown on the property.
While executing a search warrant, officials say they located approximately 55 plants and a large amount of harvested marijuana, some already packaged, on the property.
Ricketts’ bond was set at $50,000.
