Shrine Club helps family pay for funeral costs
KIRKSVILLE, Mo. —
Mother of Kaylynn Potter, Jennifer Gillin said it's night to remember her daughter.
On Friday, the El Kadir Shrine Club in Kirksville held a benefit meal to help cover the funeral costs for Kaylynn Potter, 10, of Kirksville.
The little girl passed away in July.
Kaylynn's cousin, Hiedi Coleman, said Kaylynn's passing was sudden.
“It was unexpected that she passed. No one was prepared for that."
The silent auction was filled with support from Kaylynn's family and friends.
Gillin told KTVO Kaylynn was a very lovable 10-year-old.
She said since her daughter's passing, the past several months have been difficult.
“I struggled on a daily basis to deal with the loss of her.”
Coleman said the benefit relieves a huge burden for the family.
Kaylynn's mother told KTVO the family is thankful for all the support.
“We appreciate everyone’s donations and the help that they’re given for us. I’m not really expecting nothing except for it to be able to celebrate Kaylynn’s life. For people to come out that loved her and show they’re respects.”
El Kadir Shrine Club employee, Wade Rodriguez, said the shrine club was more than willing to assist the Potter family and host a silent auction for Kaylynn.
Kaylynn's mother said more than anything, she wants the benefit to celebrate who Kaylynn was.
“I just want everybody to remember that she was outspoken and a good person.”
