Snow Emergency declared for Kirksville

The Kirksville City Manager has declared a traffic emergency effective Tuesday, February 4, 2014, at 8:00 a.m. until February 5, 2014 at 12:00 p.m.

Citizens will be required to move their parked vehicles from any street designated an â??emergency snow routeâ?? by 8:00 a.m.

All vehicles parked on emergency snow routes shall be removed within two hours after notice of a traffic emergency has been given. For this release, official notice is hereby given at 6:00 a.m. on February 4, 2014. Any vehicle parked on an emergency snow route after such period of time may be removed or caused to be removed by a police officer to a place of safety, and the vehicle may not be recovered until the towing and storage charges are paid by the person claiming the vehicle.

In addition, City of Kirksville Emergency Managers ask that citizens consider cancelling all non-essential activities from Tuesday noon, February 4, through Wednesday morning, February 5.

The National Weather Service is forecasting heavy snow conditions for all of northern Missouri and conditions are expected to deteriorate rapidly once the heavy snowfall begins.

Although the snow emergency is tentatively scheduled to run through noon on Wednesday, weather conditions could change that would extend the emergency further.
