Bobby Joe Snow will spend decades in jail for the murder of James McElroy.
According to online court records, Judge Lucy Gamon sentenced Snow to the maximum of 50 years Monday morning.
Snow won't be eligible for parole for 35 years.
Gamon also hit Snow with $150,000 in restitution to McElroy's family.
Snow was arrested in May of 2011.
During the trial witnesses testified that Snow and McElroy were involved in a series of altercations.
The incident ended with Snow throwing a single punch at McElroy.
The punch cold-cocked McElroy who severely fractured his skull when he fell helplessly to the pavement.
The case may not be over, however.
Snow's defense team has filed a motion for a new trial.
Online court records don't indicate when the court might rule on that motion.
