Snow keeps local senior group in Branson an extra day
Some local seniors are spending an extra night in Branson because of a snowstorm.
The Kirksville and Moberly Senior Circle groups had their Branson Christmas Trip extended by a day after the city received five inches or more of snow late Thursday night and into Friday morning.
The group arrived in Branson on Monday and was supposed to come home Friday, but as a precaution, Senior Circle Adviser Laura Gruber of Kirksville said the tour company that operates the motorcoach thought they would be better safe than sorry and stay an additional night.
Branson has a lot of hilly roadways, which make the drive even more difficult and dangerous.
Gruber told KTVO the seniors are being put up in a nice hotel, they ordered pizza Friday evening, and they are making the most of the extra night even though they were ready to return home Friday.
She said the group only missed one Branson show because of the snow.
Gruber said they are set to head home on Saturday.
