      Snow trial delayed once again

Bobby Joe Snow was expected to be in court next week to stand trial for Second Degree Murder

The trial of an Ottumwa man accused of murder has been delayed once again.

Bobby Joe Snow, 41, was expected to be in court next week to stand trial for Second Degree Murder in the death of James Lee McElroy.

According to online court records, that trial date has now been pushed back until November 5.

Judge Myron Gookin made the ruling during a motions hearing on Monday.

Snow was originally arrested in May 2011 after allegedly beating McElroy so severely that he died after being taken to a Des Moines area hospital.

If the case actually goes to trial in November, it will be almost two years to the date of Snow's original trial date on November 11, 2011.

In the interim there have been numerous continuances granted as the court has struggled to settle issues related to Snow's mental health.

Snow remains in custody on $500,000 cash only bond.
