If you're wondering why you received some, but not all of your mail Wednesday, it's because Tuesday's snowfall impacted delivery.
Due to the snow Tuesday, not all of the mail coming through the Kirksville Post Office made it to homes by Wednesday.
The mail distributed to areas around Kirksville is coming from two locations: Columbia and Kansas City. The Postal Service was able to deliver any mail coming from Columbia, but not the mail out of Kansas City. The Postal Service apologizes for any mail that did not make it to your home, but the Kirksville Postmaster thanks the community for understanding the impact the weather can have on the delivery service.
"Obviously a lot of snow is making it harder for us to get around and deliver mail today. Also, if it's piled up in front of the mail boxes, we recognize that it might not be the residents fault that it's there, but if we can't get to that mail box and deliver your mail, we're not going to be able to deliver your mail," said Greg Steiner, Kirksville Postmaster.
Steiner says it's also important to remember to keep sidewalks shoveled and clear of snow to ensure the safety of mail carriers.Due to the snow Tuesday, not all of the mail coming through the Kirksville Post Office made it to homes today.
