If you are looking for some family fun this holiday weekend, one Northeast Missouri community is the place to be.
La Plata is hosting its 59th annual Soybean Festival this weekend.
It kicked off Saturday morning with the annual Run Through The Jungle running event, a pie baking contest, and opening ceremonies.
One big addition to the festival this year is a mini carnival.
This is the first time since 1992 that the La Plata Soybean Festival has had a carnival. Said Dusty Sawyer, Soybean Festival President. It's a great carnival. It's very clean with a great staff. It's one of the best ones around. Come on out and enjoy the amusement attractions and plus all the local entertainment.
On Saturday evening, there was a chicken BBQ diner and The Little Mr. and Miss La Plata Pageant.
Sunday TMs events include a truck/tractor pull contest and unlimited ride wrist bands on sale from 1-5pm.
The festival concludes Monday with a baby show, a La Plata Idol singing contest, and a parade. To pre-register for the parade, call 660-349-5542.
