Special Olympic teams meet at Leisure World for an intense competition

Special Olympics teams compete at Leisure World

The Special Olympics of Missouri held their north Missouri bowling tournament Saturday. The Special Olympics is a year round sports training program for athletes with intellectual disabilities. Those with first and second place rankings in today's tournament will advance to districts in December held in St. Joseph, Missouri. All participants must be at least eight years of age.

â??What's great about our program is we have something for everybody. We division our tournaments by gender, age and ability, so it's great if a parent comes to us and says my child is very low functioning. That's alright, we have something for you so that's another great part of our program,â?? says Katie Hrenchir.
