Special prosecutor appointed in Bloomfield sex abuse case
A special prosecutor has been appointed in the case of a Bloomfield man facing several felony charges of sexual abuse.
According to Iowa online court records Assistant Attorney General Scott Brown was appointed by Judge Lucy Gamon to prosecute the case of Kenneth Wayne Turner.
The request came from Davis County Attorney Rick Lynch.
Brown is no stranger to southeast Iowa courtrooms, he was the prosecutor in the trial of murderer Bruce Pollard, and is assisting in the prosecution of accused murderer Seth Techel.
Turner, 55, was arrested last weekend after accusations of repeated sexual abuse to a 17-year-old male over several days in late September.
A preliminary hearing in the case was cancelled today, and the case has been transferred from magistrate to district court.
