Special Response Team descends on neighborhood

There were at least 10 guns, including a very large caliber sniper, two chain saws, and several laptops, among other items that police tell us were all stolen.

We continue to follow new developments after the Kirksville Response Team raided a home Thursday afternoon in the Westbury Trailer Court in Kirksville.

There were at least 10 guns, including a very large caliber sniper, two chain saws and several laptops, among other items that police tell us were all stolen.

We've learned the items were stolen from at least three northeast Missouri counties, including Adair and Sullivan counties.

Police say the large sniper is a very specialized and high-precision firearm, usually used for sophisticated combat. Police and the Special Response Team arrived at that trailer home Thursday afternoon around 1:30 and removed many stolen items from the trailer.

No one was inside the home Thursday, but Friday, Detective Justin Jones with the Kirksville Police Department told us they do have a person or persons of interest in mind, but no one is in police custody at this time.

Authorities say the total amount of stolen items is estimated at least $15,000.

This continues to still be an active investigation and police say they are working to return the stolen property back to the original owners and they should have more information Monday.

We'll definitely stay on top of this and bring you any new information.
