New information on Tuesday's armed standoff in Cincinnati.

Early Tuesday morning, law enforcement officials responded to a report of an argument and gun shots. When deputies arrived at the scene, they say one brother had barricaded himself inside his home with multiple weapons. Authorities say he refused to give himself up and threatened to shoot the officers.

KTVO spoke with the mother of the two brothers involved in the incident. She told us that the older brother has a history of mental health issues. According to her, an improper dosage of prescription drugs may have been a factor in the standoff.

The mother told us that she convinced her son to surrender himself peacefully. She says that he's now undergoing treatment and evaluation at a local hospital.

Both the Appanoose County Sheriff's Office and the mother confirm that charges are pending.

The other brother was later found to be unharmed and was never taken into custody.

KTVO is not releasing the names until official charges are filed.
