High winds from Sunday's storm system have caused over $500,000 worth of damage to a farm in Eldon.
Workers have been cleaning up debris since 10 o'clock Sunday night. All four buildings on the property have several hundred thousand dollars worth of damage to them. The roof and other parts of one facility blew across the street and into the Des Moines River.
â??We're trying to get some doors open, get machinery out,â?? Farm owner Josh Durflinger said. â??When the river dries out we can go back to the field. We're just lucky no one was hurt, and everything can be fixed.â??
The farm's owner says no one was in the building at the time, and says he wouldn't be surprised if a small tornado did hit the area last night. The National Weather Service has no record of any tornados touching the area, but the winds were clearly severe enough to generate quite a bit of destruction.
