Strong winds blow over stoplight

Stoplight blown over at intersection of Washington & Marion St. (KTVO/Jacqueline Schutte)

The strong winds that blew across the Heartland bringing the severe weather caused damage in Kirksville.

Around 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, reports came in that a stoplight had blown over in the downtown area at the intersection of Washington and Marion Streets.

The stoplight had fallen onto the sidewalk.

That four-way intersection is controlled by the flashing red lights.

Crews were on scene putting cones around the fallen light.

The broken red light bulb was still blinking while it was on the ground.

Use caution if you're walking or driving in that area while crews are working on getting it fixed.
