      Sullivan County man sentenced in child porn case

      Ricky Parris admitted that he had used his computer to view images of nude children.
      In August 2012, officers with the Kirksville Regional Computer Crimes Unit responded with Sullivan County Sheriffâ??s deputies to the residence of Ricky Parris outside of Milan, Mo. At the time, Parris was under investigation for child molestation by the Putnam County Sheriff's Office. Officers made contact with Parris and he admitted that he had used his computer to view images of nude children.A search warrant was obtained and computer forensics were conducted on Parrisâ?? computer. Images of suspected child pornography were located on the computer and Parris was later arrested.On April 30, Parris pleaded guilty to the charge of attempted possession of child pornography and received a five year prison sentence with the Missouri Department of Corrections.The case was investigated by the Sullivan County Sheriffâ??s Office, Putnam County Sheriffâ??s Office, Kirksville Police Department- Kirksville Regional Computer Crimes Unit and the Sullivan County Prosecuting Attorney.(information provided by Kirksville Police Department)Previous stories...
