Warm temperatures have arrived, and so has summer in Kirksville.
Friday night, music lovers hit the downtown area to attend the first 'Summer on the Square' concert. That performance was done by Pippa and the Strawmen. Music from that band consisted of old-time, bluegrass, and Celtic tunes. Other bands scheduled to perform on the square over the summer include genres of music ranging from musical theatre to gospel, to country. The concerts are also fun for all members of the family to attend.
"We have a lot of grassy area here for young families, they bring their kids, and blankets," said Steven Russon a member of the Kirksville Arts Board of Directors.
The 'Summer on the Square' concert series are free. Those concerts are held every Friday night from June until August beginning at 7 p.m. on the courthouse lawn. The rain venue for the concerts are at Wrongdaddy's located on McPherson Street.
