Suspect accused of choking woman, slamming face into floor
A northeast Missouri man is accused of choking a woman and physically harming her during an altercation.
The incident happened Tuesday morning at a home in Queen City.
The Schuyler County prosecutor says Marty Collis, 44, of Queen City is charged with one felony count of second-degree assault.
He is being held in the Adair County Jail on $25,000 cash only bond.
The female victim told Schuyler County sheriffâ??s deputies that Collis became very angry with her and accused her of, among other things, taking his things.
She said Collis then shoved her down and started choking her until she was gasping for air and couldn't breathe.
When the victim got away from Collis, she said he shoved her on the floor face first and started slamming her face into the floor.
Investigators said Collis chased her around the house.
Court documents state that when the woman got away from Collis the second time, she ran to a bedroom and started screaming for help out of a window when Collis came into the room and yelled at her to get back to the front of the house.
The woman tripped in the hallway outside the bedroom, and Collis allegedly started chocking her again.
When Collis let her go that time, she ran and locked herself in a bathroom and tried to use her cell phone to call for help.
The victim told deputies Collis forced his way into the bathroom and took away her phone when he saw she was trying to call someone.
She eventually escaped through an open bedroom window and ran to a neighbor's house for help.
The victim had to go to the emergency room for treatment of her injuries.
