Taste of Islam event held at Truman State

The Muslim Student Association hosted the annual Taste of Islam event at Truman State on Sunday evening. This year's meeting focused on the role of women in Islam and how it has changed over time. Event organizers also aim to clear up misconceptions about the religion.

"I really think they get some cultural diversity, it's one of Truman's big things I mean they want to expand people's critical thinking and understanding of different critical cultures throughout the world so events like this they can really you know they can come to one place and they can learn so much and embrace that in their life when they interact with muslim students, said Houston Roberts, Secretary of the Muslim Student Assciation.

Roberts says the next event will be Islam awareness week which is held in mid-march.
