Techel bond hearing moved to Monroe County
A man awaiting his third murder trial will be back in court on Monday, but not in Wapello County.
Judge Daniel Wilson moved the hearing scheduled for Seth Techel on November 25th in Ottumwa to the Monroe County Courthouse in Albia, due to scheduling conflicts in Wapello County. And there will be plenty for the parties to discuss when the hearing starts at 1:00 p.m.
Techel's defense team, Steven Gardner and Robert Box, have asked the court to allow their resignation as Techel's counsel. They have asked that the court appoint a new attorney, at state expense, and have even requested a specific Des Moines law firm be assigned.
Techel has also requested to have his bond reduced from $750,000 cash only to $75,000 and of course, there is the matter of deciding when and where Techel's third trial will be held.
Techel is charged with first-degree murder in the May 2012 death of his wife, Lisa Caldwell Techel. She was found shot in the couple's Agency, Iowa, home.
Techel trial once again ends in mistrial
