Techel murder trial set to start next week
The trial of murder suspect Seth Andrew Techel, 22, is still on track to begin next week.
According to Iowa Courts Online, Techelâ??s trial is slated to start February 19, at 9 a.m. at the Wapello County Courthouse.
Attorneys for both sides have been preparing last minute motions for Judge Dan Wilson to consider.
Techel is charged with two felonies, first degree murder and non-consensual termination of a pregnancy in the shooting death of his wife Lisa Marie Caldwell-Techel and her unborn child Zoey Maria.
On May 26, Wapello County Sheriff's deputies responded to the Techel home near Agency, where they found Lisa Techel suffering from a gunshot wound.
Techel was arrested and charged four days later.
Prosecutors have not officially offered a motive for the crime, but court records indicate that investigators believe that Seth Techel may have been having an affair and the marriage may have been on the rocks.
