Tue, 19 Nov 2013 21:28:25 GMT — The holiday season is almost upon us, and everyone in Southeast Iowa knows what that means; it's the time of year for the Ottumwa Chamber of Commerce's annual Holiday Nights 'N Lights. This is the ninth year for the lighted display at Greater Ottumwa Park. Around 15 volunteers have been working seven days a week for the last three weeks to get everything ready in preparation for opening night. On Thursday, Nights 'N Lights will be open for VIPs and volunteers and the public can begin driving through on Saturday, November 23. With 50 displays ranging from six to 50 feet tall, getting the event prepared is a lot of hard work, but worth it when people from across the country start driving through. "Last year we had 5,000 vehicles go through and about 16,000 individuals from those vehicles, so we're hoping for even more this year," said Tim Kurtz, Executive Director of the Ottumwa Chamber of Commerce. Nights 'N Lights is open Sunday-Thursday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. and Friday and Saturday 6 until 9:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 per car, or you can buy tickets in advance for $8 at the Chamber office on Main Street, or at any Elliot Oil BP locations around town.
