The Hamilton Street Baptist Church is the host site for the Adair County monthly mobile food pantry.
Volunteers met at the church as early as 7 a.m. Saturday morning to prepare tickets for need-based families to receive food. The families were required to present identification for all members of their households in order to be approved for distribution.
Qualified families met at the church around 11 a.m. to pick up their packages.
Pastor Charles Jackson says they prepare about 15,000 pounds of food to give away each month and they are excited to assist the community just before the holiday season.
â??Well we know there's a real need for food in Adair County. This is one of the under-served areas, so we're glad that we can provide that service and ministry to them to help get some extra food for the Thanksgiving season. We're appreciative of all of our volunteers that came out and put in several hours of hard work, moving a lot of food every month,â?? says Pastor Jackson.
Hamilton Street Baptist Church teamed up with the food bank of North/Central Missouri for the successful event.
