The Adair County Public Library introduces a special Christmas tree

The Adair County Public Library's Giving Tree

Give the gift of reading this holiday season by purchasing a book in honor of a loved one.

The Adair County Public Library has placed a "Giving Tree" near the entrance of the building. The Christmas tree is decorated with book cover ornaments representing new books at the library. Ornaments can be selected and those specific books on the ornament covers can be purchased at the circulation desk.

After buying a book, there should be a person chosen as an honoree to list on the back of the ornament. A note will then be sent to the honoree, notifying them of the gift. Board of Trustees President Sandra Fleak says this is a good way to get children reading this season.

â??What a wonderful thing? You can bring a child or grandchild in and let them help you select the books and the person to honor and it'll be a good way to give the gift of reading and teach your child to do that as well. Your child or grandchild could then check out a book from the library and read it too,â?? says Fleak.

This is a fundraiser for new books at the library. For more information on the â??Giving Tree,â?? contact the Adair County Public Library at 660-665-6038.
