      The Firecraker 5K is back for the second year

      The Firecracker 5K and 1 mile walk will be taking place next Friday July 4 at 8 a.m. in downtown Kirksville.

      A new Fourth of July tradition is returning for the second year in a row.

      The Firecracker 5K and 1 mile walk will be taking place next Friday at 8 a.m.

      The run and walk will begin and end by the entrance of the Dukum Inn in downtown Kirksville. You can expect lots of fun, food, refreshments and music.

      It's all benefits The Food Bank for Central and Northeast Missouri.

      "The money that is raised helps to bring into Adair County for the pantries that are here," said Susan Dublin of The Food Bank for Central and Northeast Missouri.

      Before the race, there will be a decoration contest for the best hat, stoller, and dog. The medal ceremony will be taking place afterwards followed by the parade.
