The Salvation Army in Ottumwa received quite the generous donation on Friday.
200 pounds of pork from Hy-Vee along with turkey and rolls arrived just in time for their annual community Thanksgiving dinner the Salvation Army does for the community.
Hy-Vee workers said they wanted to recognize all that the Salvation Army does for the community.
All of the meat donated Friday will go towards the Salvation Armyâ??s feeding program.
â??Everyday Monday through Friday at noon we have a good meal for seniors, nice nutritional meals. We average about 50 to 75 seniors here at our building everyday and then we deliver anywhere from 125-150 meals everyday as well through Meals on Wheels,â?? said Captain Oliver Knuth, Corps Officer.
Captain Knuth said he is very appreciative of the generous donation and this will greatly help their feeding program.
