They're cute, they're playful and they're ready to be adopted

There were several cute little puppies on the Adair County Courthouse lawn Saturday morning, waiting for a new home.

They were on display as a part of the Kirksville Downtown Improvement Committee's Adopt-A-Pet.

Field of Dreams Rescue is one of the organizations that participated in the event. They have eight dogs available for adoption. Currently, the dogs live in foster homes where they are being trained.

"It can be challenging thing to get them to good permanent homes," said Katy Fine, President of Field of Dreams Rescue. "But we keep them until they're adopted. So we try to focus on finding them good homes."

Fine said Field of Dreams Rescue also hosts a pet food pantry every first and third Tuesday of each month for people who are having trouble affording food for their pets. To find out more information on how you can adopt a dog or cat from Field of Dreams Rescue, call (660) 342-6023 or email

The Adair County Humane Society was on hand to show off three cute little puppies and two adult dogs that are available for adoption. To adopt their dogs, you have to fill out a questionnaire and pay an adoption fee of $85 for adult dogs and $65 for puppies.
