By KTVO Newsdesk
Sat, 02 Nov 2013 01:45:28 GMT — The Macon Police Department will be displaying a new â??lookâ?? during the month of November. According to Chief Steve Olinger, as a fundraising event to benefit local families in need, the Macon Police Department will have a â??No Shave Novemberâ?? for all of their employees. The employees may choose to go without shaving their mustache and beard throughout the month of November for a donation of $25.00. Chief Olinger said the proceeds will be donated to help local families in need to afford food during the holidays. The Chief said the Police Department employees were enthusiastic about the event and although not all plan to participate, many have said they will donate to the cause regardless of the opportunity to go without shaving their beards. The department plans to document the monthâ??s beard-growing on their facebook page. The Chief invites the public to â??likeâ?? their facebook page and follow along. In addition to the employeeâ??s donations, Chief Olinger also stated C&R Supermarket and Prenger Foods have both agreed to donate groceries to increase the overall outcome of the fundraiser. The public is invited to support our fundraising cause and may make monetary donations at the Macon Police Department during business hours, 8:00a.m. â?? 4:00p.m.
