Ottumwa High Schoolâ??s commencement ceremony at the Bridge View Center.

More than 3,300 people packed the Bridge View Center for Ottumwa High Schoolâ??s commencement ceremony.

Over 300 graduates received their diplomas on this momentous occasion. Principal Mark Hanson, Ottumwa Community Schools Superintendent Dr. Davis Eidahl and School Board President Carol Mitchell all gave speeches before the audience. Class President Charles Altfillisch presented the commencement address.

â??It's really a bittersweet thing,â?? OHS Principal Mark Hanson said. â??You get to know the seniors in a lot of ways. They're like your own kids, and I really kind of feel like that with these people, and to see them go away and kind of grow up before your very eyes is kind of awe-inspiring.â??

19 students were honored with valedictorian medallions for achieving a perfect 4.0 GPA.
