Alcohol has played a part in landing a Macon County man in jail.
Matthew Good, 22, of La Plata, is charged with felony counts of stealing a motor vehicle and leaving the scene of an accident. He is also charged with three misdemeanors, including driving while intoxicated.
According to court papers, Good grabbed the victim around his neck and assaulted him and then stole the victim's vehicle.
After Good crashed the stolen vehicle into a fence, he ran into a wooded area to try to avoid arrest. Good was allegedly very intoxicated at the time.
In his first court appearance, Good's bond was reduced to $1,000 cash. He was ordered to wear a SCRAM bracelet to detect any alcohol use, as well as live with his mother. He is only allowed to leave for work or court.
