Failing to have a license plate on the front of his vehicle has landed a northeast Missouri man in jail facing a felony charge.
Darren Ellis, 25, of Macon, is charged with possession of methamphetamine, a misdemeanor charge of unlawful use of drug paraphernalia and several traffic offenses. He is being held in the Macon County jail under $9,000 cash only bond.
According to court papers, a Missouri Highway Patrol trooper initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle Ellis was driving. When the trooper approached the vehicle, he noticed Ellis had a glass pipe betweeen his legs. When asked to get out of the vehicle, Ellis allegedly knocked the pipe onto the floor and kicked it under the driver's seat. The trooper found the pipe along with a baggie of a powder substance which field tested positive for meth.
Ellis already has felony charges of receiving stolen property, burglary and stealing pending against him in Macon County.
