Treasures abound at annual arts association rummage sale
A few Kirksville residents have some new found treasures following the 5th Annual Kirksville Arts Association Rummage Sale.
Organizers tell us shoppers were lined up before 7:00 Saturday morning, anxiously waiting to get inside.
Thanks to various donations from community members the sale proved to be a shopper's delight.
Everything from artwork and records to clothing and dishes could be found at Saturdayâ??s sale.
â??We really appreciate the generosity of people. We had a very high quality sale today and rummage isn't appropriately describing what we had available; many nice items,â?? said Rummage Sale Coordinator Kathy Rieck.
Proceeds from this year's sale will be used for improvements to the floor of the gallery and extending the Art Center's public hours of operation.
Organizers were hoping to raise between $1,500 and $2,000, and based on the excellent turnout they anticipate that goal was met.
Any antiques not purchased during Saturdayâ??s sale will be placed in the Kirksville Art Associationâ??s booth at the Princess Emporium. Proceeds from that booth go towards general operations of the art center during the year.
Other household and miscellaneous items will be donated to a local mission at the conclusion of the sale.
