Tri-County Electric customers got a surprise gift this past holiday season as the electric cooperative association gave a rebate in December.
The rebate was calculated based on each member's kilowatt usage from January 1 through October 31, 2013
Those on the board of directors say this got a very positive response.
"A lot of people were appreciated of that because it was a time with Christmas, taxes, things like that. We try to help the members out. They help us out. It was an excess of what we needed to maintain our financing operations and stability. We wanted to give that back to the members for their use," said Kevin Wheeler of Tri-County Electric Cooperative.
Wheeler says they hope this was a big help to customers since the next bill could be a bit high due during the cold weather.
