Trial set for Ottumwa kidnapping suspect

An Ottumwa man accused of kidnapping a family will go to trial early next year
According to online court records, 34-year-old Adem Geleto Anota is scheduled to stand trial on a charge of First Degree Kidnapping on Feb. 4, 2014.
Anota was arrested in October after an Ottumwa woman filed a complaint with the Ottumwa Police Department.
The woman accused Anota of confining her and her family to a residence on Fellows Street for nearly 13 days.
Court documents indicate that the woman told police that Anota threatened to kill the family if they tried to leave the residence.
The complaint also states that Anota repeatedly had non-consensual sex with the woman during her captivity.
