Truman braces for an Irish Christmas
KIRKSVILLE, Mo. —
Truman State University will hold its Kohlenberg Lyceum Series Dec. 6 at Baldwin Auditorium with performances by Lúnasa and guest soloist Ashley Davis.
"It's a series that allows us to bring in major performers for the Kirksville community and the Truman community to see," said Public Relations Director Heidi Templeton.
This year's theme is Christmas from Ireland.
"It's an Irish Christmas, so we do have a lot of great traditional Irish carols and songs that would be sung around the holiday season ... anybody that has an Irish connection or who would have spent a Christmas in Ireland, a couple of the songs that Ashley sings, you definitely would have heard of," said performer Kevin Crawford.
Templeton may have had a bit of Irish luck in finding the group.
"I was just looking at the events that were happening in Kansas City, St. Louis, and I came across this wonderful Irish group and knew that they would be in the Kansas City area performing a holiday program and one thing led to another and I just couldn't be more excited about the performance," Templeton said.
“This is really just like a party for us at Christmas. It's lovely. We get to shake down a few tunes that we normally wouldn't get to play, and it's so beautiful having a singer with us just to kind of show," Crawford said.
The event begins at 7:30 p.m. and tickets cost $5.50.
