A performance that has been months in the making is almost here. Coming up this Monday April 29 at 8 P.M. the Truman State University Steel Orchestra will hold their first full length concert at Ophelia Parrish on Trumanâ??s Campus. The Steel Orchestra is made up of 25 Truman students performing on traditional steel drums of all shapes and sizes. Admission is completely free so please put this event on your calendar!
â??It's based on a traditional scale like you would hear on a piano or a violin. It will be all traditional. Well, not all but mostly traditional music, but there will be a lot of jazz influence pieces arrangements and things like that so it will be a wide variety of different steel drum music. Everybody and anybody that is interested in what this music is all about, please come in and join us,â?? said Michael Bump a Percussion Studies Professor.
