Truman State University prepares for commencement

Preparations are almost complete for the Spring commencement ceremony at Truman State University.

Caps and gowns have been picked up and chairs are in place for the special ceremony at the university. 930 undergraduate students and 129 graduate students will walk across stage and pick up degrees. The event allows students to have one last fun time together before going separate ways. Family and friends can also celebrate their favorite students success.

"It is a kind of closure. The families really love to celebrate their sons and daughters getting their Truman degree, and they get to walk across the stage and hoop and holler, and it's kind of fun after four or five years of college that their students have been successful and are going off to start another phase of their life," said Ralph Cupelli, Assistant to the Vice President for Academic Affairs.

The ceremony will begin at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Stokes Stadium. No ticket for the event is required, if held outside. The rain location for the ceremony is Pershing Arena.
