Truman students celebrate 'Pay it Forward' week

A few Truman State University students spent their Saturday afternoon "paying it forward."

April 24th was National Pay it Forward Day, a day that encourages anyone who receives a random act of kindness to pay it forward by sharing a kind act with another individual.

Many students who received a purple "pay it forward card,â?? during Trumanâ??s Pay it Forward week spent Saturday volunteering for the Food Bank for Central and Northeast Missouri.

â??We're just collecting donations, either food or monetary donations for the Food Bank for Central and Northeast Missouri and we make these back packs with all the food that we collect,â?? said volunteer Nate Kardesch.

Kardesch is glad he got on board with "paying it forward," because itâ??s so rewarding.

The 2013 Poundage Distribution Report for Adair County indicates thereâ??s been over 680,000 pounds of food collected in the area.

Donations collected at Saturday's drive will go to local food pantries.
