Truman University students collect for The Food Bank
Truman University students from the Serve Center collected close to 1000 pounds of food and $1,500 to support those who are food insecure in Adair County. One dollar equals 15 lbs. of food with the food bank, so what was collected will go a long way to help those in need this holiday season.
Students worked last Monday through Friday at different events on Truman Campus and at Hy-Vee, collecting food and funds. They also held an event at Colton's. If guests mentioned The Food Bank to their server, Colton's donated 10% of the dining check to The Food Bank.
All food collected stays local and goes to Christian Community Food Depot and the Salvation Army. The funds help support the 600,000 pounds of food The Food Bank for Central and Northeast Missouri has and will deliver to Adair County in 2013 for free.
