The search of two Ottumwa houses lands both homeowners in jail.
On December 30th and 31st, officers from the Ottumwa Police Department executed search warrants at two homes, one on North Iowa Avenue, the other on North Marion Street. Stolen property, including jewelry, construction equipment and wall art, were recovered from both residences.
The home on Iowa Avenue was searched again Tuesday, January 21 and officers recovered additional stolen property. During that search, Daniel Vandello, 30, was arrested and charged with four counts of third-degree burglary. Vandello is being held in the Wapello County Jail on a $20,000 bond.
The resident of the home on North Marion Street, James Deveers, 29, is charged with one count of third-degree burglary and two counts of aiding and abetting burglary in the third degree.
Those charges are not Deveers' first run-in with the law. Earlier this month, police officers interrupted a burglary in progress at Fox Hole Firearms and Deveers was charged with burglary and driving under suspension at that time.
