Two Heartland men accused of stealing an ATV
Two Heartland men are being held in custody at the Adair County jail after being accused of stealing an ATV.
According to the Adair County Sheriff's Office, Charles Longcor, 19, of Kirksville, and Justin McFarland, 21, of Kirksville, have both been charged with tampering with a motor vehicle in the first degree, a class C felony.
Court documents indicate that an ATV was reported stolen on Dec. 13. On Dec. 24, the documents state that a Kirksville police officer spotted Longcor and McFarland with an ATV that looked similar to the one that was reported stolen. The officer called the owner of the stolen ATV, and brought her to the location where Longcor and McFarland were to see if the ATV they had in their possession was hers. Once she identified the ATV in their possession as the same one that was stolen, McFarland and Longcor stated they bought the ATV from a man in Fulton, but could not provide proof of ownership.
The court documents state that both Longcor and McFarland were placed under arrest for knowingly possessing a vehicle without the consent of the owner. They remain in the Adair County Jail on $25,000 cash-only bonds.

According to court documents, Charles Longcor is alreay under supervised probation. He pleaded guilty to stealing fireworks back in 2010.
